Travel to school

All families are responsible for the transport of their children to and from school. Families who have a child with a disability may be eligible for transport through the Assisted School Travel Program (ASTP), however other support and assistance is also available.

There are a range of safe transport options to get to our school. Check our location map, driving details and public transport options to help make the journey to school safe and easy.

Getting here

Finding Ajuga School can be tricky if using Google Maps as it will take you through to the old fire track that is inaccessible. Instead, please enter Roy Watts Road via Glenfield Road. Follow the road for around 2km (past Hurlstone Agricultural College, Campbell House School and Glenfield Park School) to the very end where you will come to a T intersection. Turn left on to Quarter Sessions Road and you will find Ajuga School approximately 200 metres on the left.

Please respect the speed limits in the area. Ajuga School roadways are shared with pedestrians and we ask that you do not exceed 10 km.

School drop off and pick up

At Ajuga, our drop-off and pick-up process is designed to keep students calm and safe during busy times. The school gate opens at 8:45 am, with vehicles lining up in a single file. Students remain in their vehicles—whether with parents, carers, or on ASTP transport—until they reach the front of the line. A staff member then signals when students can exit, marking them off the roll, collecting electronics, and guiding them to their class. The gate closes promptly at 9:00 am, and any arrivals after this time must report to the office for a late note.

In the afternoon, the gate reopens at 2:15 pm for pick-up. Vehicles line up again in single file, and students are called to their vehicles one by one. They are marked off the roll as they enter, and electronics are returned once students are seated with their seatbelts fastened. This process ensures a smooth and safe transition for all students.

Assisted School Transport Scheme

The Department of Education Assisted School Travel Program (ASTP) plays a significant role in meeting the needs of eligible students with disability by providing free specialised transport to and from school where parents and carers are unable to provide or arrange transport for the student either fully or in part.

Students with disability who are unable to travel to and from school under the Transport for NSW's School Student Transport Scheme or other services may be eligible for transport assistance under the ASTP.

Transport through the ASTP is provided as an in-kind support for NDIS participants who are eligible to receive an ASTP service.

During enrolment, our staff will assist you to determine if your child is eligible and navigate the application process.

School Drive Subsidy

The School Drive Subsidy (SDS)External link is available to NSW residents in areas where there is no public transport, to drive an eligible student all or part of the way to school. The subsidy is only intended to partly offset the cost of using a private vehicle to drive the eligible student and is not intended to cover all costs. TfNSW administers the SDS scheme. The subsidy is for driving school students to school or to the nearest transport pick up point, by car, motorcycle or boat.
