Working Here
Ajuga School is a specialist, innovative, trauma-responsive school for students across K-12.
We are passionate about offering a safe environment where students with a complex trauma background and/or Autism can reignite their love for learning and discover personal strategies to support their success at school and in the community so that they can thrive!
Working at Ajuga School means being part of a dedicated, supportive and diverse team where you can make a difference, no matter your role.
How do we support staff at Ajuga?
Proactive Wellbeing Support
Proactive supervision in psychology support involves regular, preventive check-ins and reflective sessions designed to help staff manage work-related stress, build resilience, and maintain mental wellbeing before challenges escalate. It is a supportive space to discuss professional experiences, develop coping strategies, and enhance overall wellbeing.
Professional Book Club
Aligned with Ajuga’s vision to be a Lighthouse School for Trauma Responsive Education, the Book Club:
- Runs twice a term and is voluntary for all staff to join.
- Fosters a culture of lifelong learning and reflective practice.
- Enhances understanding of neuroscience, complex trauma, and effective educational practice.
- Promotes team connection, collaboration, and staff wellbeing.
Dedicated Wellbeing week
At Ajuga, we prioritise both professional development and staff wellbeing. Each term, we hold a dedicated Wellbeing Week, during which whole-school meetings are paused to focus on team connection, self-care, and wellbeing initiatives.
Small teams
At Ajuga, we are fortunate to work in supportive, small teams. Each class includes up to seven students, a teacher, and a School Learning and Support Officer (SLSO), with additional support from an Assistant Principal. We value regular check-ins, open communication, and reflective practice, fostering empathy, psychological safety, and relational trust—allowing us to model these essential skills for our students.
