Aboriginal Education

Aboriginal student support

We are committed to closing the achievement gap for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students. We know that we need to learn about, nurture and value the cultural identity of our Aboriginal students to help them be successful learners.

We welcome Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander family members, parents and carers, and community members to our school so that we can get to know each other, learn about the local Aboriginal community and develop shared goals and plans for Aboriginal students.

The Aboriginal Education Policy confirms the NSW Department of Education’s commitment to improvement in educational outcomes and wellbeing for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students.

Hilltop Junior AECG (Aboriginal Education Consultative Group)

Ajuga, together with Campbellhouse School and Ajuga School, has developed a Junior AECG (Aboriginal Education Consultative Group) to support our Aboriginal students. This initiative provides a platform for young students to have a voice in their education, share their perspectives, and help shape culturally inclusive programs within the schools. The Junior AECG involves student representatives participating in meetings, contributing ideas for school activities and policies, and fostering connections between students, staff, and the wider Aboriginal community. Through this program, students develop leadership skills, cultural awareness, and a sense of ownership over their educational experience.
