Ajuga Logo

The new Ajuga School Logo was revealed in late 2021 after a long consultative process with students, staff, and community. This included consulation with The Fields AECG who endorsed the new logo.

The Key Elements of the Ajuga School Logo

The lyrebird - The totem of the Dharawal people is the lyrebird. The lyrebird is the language keeper and the peacekeeper.

There are two Dharawal Dreaming stories our students become familiar with at Ajuga:

Wiritjiribin: The First Lyrebird

Budbri Learns to Dance: The Story of how the Lyrebird taught the People to Dance

The Ajuga - Ajuga School is named after the native Ajuga Australis or Australian Bugle. Interestingly, it is not widely known. Technically, it is a herb and is in the same family as mint!

Traditionally, Aboriginal people used it for medicinal purposes. The bruised plant was infused in hot water and used to bathe sores and boils and the leaves have reportedly been used as a salve for wounds.

The Three Hills - this is a purely symbolic addition representing the THREE schools that make up the Hilltop Community of Schools: Ajuga School, Campbell House School and Glenfield Park Schoo. We are committed to nurturing this partnership to increase the impact we have for all of our students.

Courage - Connection - Growth - Through these three words our students succeed at Ajuga School.

They begin their first step towards growth by having the courage to trust our team to work alongside them; the courage to unpack their emotions; and, the courage to work through the rupture/repair cycle.

Connection is pivotal to all that we do. Our relationships, developed through gratitude, kindness, awareness of strengths, and unconditional positive regard, all aid the development of rich, appropriate and authentic connections, and help us to support our students to repair those relationships that may have broken down outside school.

Growth - Our ultimate goal is to support our students growth both socially, emotionally and academically. Goal setting helps to support this.

Purple and Green - we have maintained the purple and green as our school colours, both which are found on the Ajuga plant.
