Collaborative & Proactive Solutions (CPS) is an evidence-based approach developed by Dr. Ross W. Greene for addressing challenging behaviour in children. It moves away from traditional discipline methods, focusing instead on identifying and solving the underlying problems causing the behaviour collaboratively.
Through empathy and partnership, adults help children articulate their concerns, understand expectations, and work together to find mutually satisfactory solutions, thereby building skills like problem-solving, flexibility, and frustration tolerance.
CPS emphasises that children do well if they can, rather than if they want to, highlighting the importance of skill-building over willpower.
Ajugq School commenced the CPS journey in late 2023 as the first step in implementing CPS processes across the school. Our core team are currently being coached via the Lives in the Balance team to complete ASUP and Plan B with fidelity.
